You don’t arrive in Roero by accident. You turn off the main road. The landscape roughens. Sand replaces clay. Cliffs crumble. This is Piedmont before it was polished—raw, fossil-strewn, unfinished. Like stone before it becomes sculpture.
Piasì is a place-name with weight. A cru of Arneis, shaped by Roero’s sandy soils—ancient searock that gives the wine its tension, minerality, and quiet power. Here, Arneis sheds its easy charm and shows its true character.
The wine is made by a family of five, led by Gianluca Battaglio—owner, winemaker, and guardian of the estate. Just 6,500 bottles, and no more.
In the glass: white flowers, wild pear, citrus peel, and a faint saline note, as if the sea never quite left. Precise, lifted, and unmistakably of its place.
This is Arneis from the backroads of Piedmont.
Before polish became perfected.
